Monday 14 December
8:30 - 8:30
Africa has experienced the world’s most significant growth in recent years, including the size of its pharmaceutical industry. But for the first time in 25 years, gross domestic product (GDP) for the continent is projected to contract. Annually, millions of preventable deaths exist due to a lack of adequate vaccine supply. COVID 19 is currently worsening the situation further. Timely access to healthcare remains a priority whilst accounting for the continent’s continued population growth, swift urbanisation and a growing middle class, an advanced and sustainable cold chain is vital to support long-term development goals. PLA2020 sets out to create public-private partnerships and open dialogue, addressing the most vital of challenges including access, immunisation and equality, and to promote development initiatives that harmonise the efforts of donors, developing countries and aid agencies across Africa
